In addition to 4K and HDR being possible on compatible games, Nintendo has confirmed that VRR (Variable Refresh Rates) will be supported on the Switch 2 system.
Bring games to life with a larger 1080p screen [in handheld mode]—or connect to a TV and play in up to 4K resolution*. Support for HDR, VRR, and frame rates up to 120 fps let you enjoy vivid color, clarity, and smooth gameplay.
Variable refresh rate (VRR) technology helps games move seamlessly by preventing frame skips and flickering.
Also, Game Chat was announced via the Direct. This should make it easy to communicate to friends and foes without using a third-party tool like Discord.
Overall, it looks like the Nintendo Switch 2 is a true modern handheld. For comparison, the Steam Deck OLED supports HDR and a 90Hz refresh rate. It does not seem like the Switch 2 will feature OLED technology, however. 🙁
Arcade Archives 2 RIDGE RACER, releasing for the Switch 2, will employ VRR. It’s RIIIIDGE RAAAACER! (I had to do it).
