Nintendo has officially announced that races in the upcoming Mario Kart World will feature 24 drivers at once. But how many characters will players be able to choose from on the Switch 2? A recent glimpse from Nintendo’s Treehouse might have revealed this information.
Videos going around social media show the character selection screen, where only one page is visible—displaying 12 racers. However, below these portraits, there appear to be seven navigational tabs, suggesting the possibility of up to 84 selectable characters in total.
On the first page alone, you’ll find familiar faces like Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Yoshi, Toad, Koopa Troopa, Bowser, Wario, Waluigi, Rosalina, and Pauline. Birdo and others are hinted to be included on subsequent pages.
For comparison, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, with all its DLC, featured 48 characters. While Nintendo hasn’t confirmed the final roster for Mario Kart World, fans won’t have to wait long—an official Mario Kart-focused Direct is scheduled later this month on April 17th. The game itself is set to launch alongside the Switch 2 on June 5, 2025.
