The good news first: PlatinumGames is set to celebrate Bayonetta‘s 15th anniversary this year. The studio says they “have a few things in store to celebrate this milestone so keep your eyes peeled.” They hope to make 2025 a year full of announcements related to the series.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like the announcement of Bayonetta Origins director Abebe Tinari leaving PlatinumGames was part of the anniversary celebration.
Abebe most recently directed Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon for Switch, and per his LinkedIn profile, he no longer works at the studio for undisclosed reasons. Apparently, he now works for PlayStation‘s Housemarque studio.
Abebe joins Hideki Kamiya in leaving the studio, pointing to a potential problem with the company. Kamiya is now working on an Okami sequel.
Bayonetta is technically owned by Sega, but its last three games have only appeared on Nintendo systems. Bayonetta 2 for Wii U, plus 3 and Origins for Nintendo Switch.
I like the franchise, but this post reminds me I need to go and finish the games.
Do you think there’s an issue going on with PlatinumGames? Let me know in the comments.

BAYONETTA 15th Anniversary
Thanks to everyone’s support, Bayonetta has now reached the 15th anniversary of its release. It is because of you, our fans, that we are able to celebrate this special milestone. Please let us use this opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude!
Since its inception, PlatinumGames has continued to push the boundaries of action games. In 2009, we were able to deliver a brand-new action experience with the release of Bayonetta, which is a title that we are still very proud of to this day.
Over the past 15 years, we have been able to walk alongside Bayonetta and the series’ charming cast of characters. Bringing joy to so many people through Bayonetta has been an invaluable journey for us.
Moving forward, we will continue to take on new challenges to create games that surprise and delight our fans. We look forward to your continued support of Bayonetta and PlatinumGames!
