Hideki Kamiya, known for his work on Bayonetta, Viewtiful Joe, and Okami, is also known for his humorous responses to absurd questions, calling people “insects,” and blocking mass groups of people on Twitter (or whatever you wish to call it today).
However, following the announcement of Okami’s sequel, developed by Kamiya’s new studio Clovers, he has expressed regret. In particular, a past interaction with a female fan has gotten under Kamiya’s skin.
In a Twitter post on his account December 16, Kamiya reflected, “While watching people’s reactions to Okami’s announcement, I came across a video of a woman getting extremely emotional and overjoyed. It genuinely touched me. However, she seemed somewhat familiar, so I searched my Twitter log and found that she had previously asked me questions. In response, I rudely shouted insults at her. Now, I regret my actions and feel a deep sense of remorse.”
In a later post, Kamiya retweeted the reaction video by @Skittzipoo. Kamiya expressed his regret, saying, “I adore this person… I apologize for my previous behavior…”
Kamiya has also been unblocking people who request it recently. However, he still appears to be calling people insects and telling them to leave if they ask him questions that bother him. So…is he a changed man or not so much?
What do you think? Should developers be so aggressive on social media? I’m hardly one to talk since I love to be honest and say whatever I want. (Source).
