Sega president Shuji Utsumi told the BBC that the company is “evaluating” the possibility of a Sega subscription service, and that the prospect is “very interesting.” If Sega were to make this move, they’d be joining Xbox Game Pass, Ubisoft+, EA, PlayStation, and Nintendo’s NSO.
In the same interview, Shuji Utsumi teased the future of 3D Sonic. When asked if the company was planning a sequel to Sonic Adventure 2, the president replied with the following:
The next one is going to be a quite challenging, quite exciting game that we are working on. Sonic Adventure was kind of a game-changer for Sonic. When we release it, it should be good, it should be impressive – we need to meet or even exceed people’s expectations, so it takes some time.
When further asked about the possibility of the Chao Garden returning, Utsumi only stated “we’ve been talking about it.”
Sega Genesis games are already available on Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack, albeit only a modest selection.

Would you subscribe to a Sega subscription service? I certainly wouldn’t. I used to subscribe to Xbox Game Pass until I realized I would save more money simply by buying the games I actually have time to play.
