While Nintendo is already working on a live-action Zelda movie as we speak (which will either be great or a total disaster), the writers of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Pat Casey and Josh Miller are still clamoring to make a Wind Waker movie.
Here’s what they had to say in a new interview:
I think another easy one I think we can answer because the movie’s already happening and we’re already not doing it would be a Zelda. I remember always when we played Wind Waker, we were always like, man, I mean, it would probably be weird if they made a Zelda movie to start with Wind Waker versus the more classic Hyrule. But we both loved Wind Waker and it’s so cinematic. Yeah. So after they make this Zelda movie, I guess we’re putting it out there in the world, maybe we can do a Wind Waker spin-off.
Before you get your hopes up, the writers also expressed interest in a Cool Spot, Golden Axe, and A Boy and His Blob movie. So it looks like they’d be down for anything.
I’d love to see an animated Wind Waker movie, but I have no hopes that a live-action take would be anything short of a Dragonball: Evolution situation. Goofy, cartoony Japanese properties are not well suited to live-action. But give Wind Waker the budget of a Pixar movie, and now you got yourself a pool party.
What do you think? Should Nintendo give the Sonic movie writers a go at their cash cow? As long as it’s animated, I say: go for it.
Check This Out: Here’s the trailer to the 2009 bomb Dragonball: Evolution. Let’s not do this for Zelda.

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker is available on the Nintendo GameCube and as an HD “port” on the Nintendo Wii U. There are rumors of the game hitting the Nintendo Switch soon. However, those rumors have been circulating for half a decade.
