It’s been confirmed that Forever Entertainment is the developer of the rather lame port of Donkey Kong Country Returns HD.
Don’t get me wrong, I love DKCR. But I’ve loved it at least two times already. And the developer responsible for my love was Retro Studios, who have been rudely cut out of the credits for this simple port.
Our website is only a month old so we were unable to get an early review copy of the game. However, others with the game have noted that the original staff credits have been removed in favor of a simple sentence:
Based on the work of the original development staff
Frankly, this is downright rude. Forever Entertainment have seemingly cobbled together a barebones port of Retro Studios and Monster Games’ (developers of the 3DS version) original work. Why you gotta treat them so bad?
Nintendo does have a habit of not crediting their artists. For example, the Nintendo Music app doesn’t credit any of the composers. And the Super Mario Bros. movie didn’t credit Grant Kirkhope for his Donkey Kong 64 rap song. It’s a really pathetic look for a big, rich company like Nintendo.
We’ll be covering this game in-depth sometime later in the month, but for now: shame on you, Nintendo/Forever Entertainment. Credit your damn developers and composers.
