According to the Film & Television Industry Alliance, the new Legend of Zelda movie scheduled to release March 26, 2027, could be part of a trilogy. What’s more, the first of the three seems to be set to start filming this November (2025) in New Zealand. Shooting will last until April 7th, 2026 according to the site.
Per a new synopsis:
A live-action adaptation of the video game franchise. ‘The Legend of Zelda’ follows Link, a young warrior destined to protect the magical kingdom of Hyrule from the forces of darkness. The land is under threat from Ganon, a ruthless warlord who seeks the Triforce—an ancient relic said to grant limitless power. To stop him, Link must embark on a perilous journey, battling monstrous creatures, exploring treacherous dungeons, and solving intricate puzzles to uncover sacred artifacts that can aid him in his quest.
The movie will be produced by Shigeru Miyamoto (the creator of Zelda), and Avi Arad, former chief creative officer for Marvel Entertainment. Wes Ball, the director of Maze Runner and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, will direct this live-action project.
