I’ll make it no secret that I’m a bigger fan of the older Zelda titles like Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess compared to the 2017 Switch launch title Breath of the Wild and its sequel Tears of the Kingdom. I’m not a Minecraft guy, and Tears of the Kingdom in particular is heavily inspired by that mega-hit, leaving this older Zelda fan a bit in the dust.
Having said that…I am no Scrooge McDuck, and I love to see fans make something special with the limited tools at their disposal. And that is what user “domo” (translated from Japanese) has done, sharing the result over on the social media platform formerly known as Twitter. Take a look for yourself:
Move over, Anakin Skywalker, Sebulba, and the rest of the podracing crew. Using the game’s Ultrahand mechanics, @saiotoko002 brought the high-speed excitement of the Star Wars: Episode I set piece to life in Hyrule. The build features a rather familiar racer resembling young Anakin’s pod and even a smaller competitor piloted by a Korok.
To showcase this creative masterpiece, the builder included dramatic camera angles, thrilling explosions (yes, Koroks were definitely involved), and a fitting soundtrack: Duel of the Fates.
Not surprisingly, this isn’t the first time a fan has recreated the podracing scene in Tears of the Kingdom. Here’s YouTuber Astonishing Game Reviews with his rendition from July 12th, 2023:
Have you made anything this cool in Tears of the Kingdom? Let me know in the comments. Maybe it’ll change my mind about the game…maybe.
