Take-Two’s CEO has stated in an investor’s call today that the company would support the Switch 2. While the CEO didn’t confirm any specific game, that didn’t stop Nintendo fans from speculating that GTA VI could potentially make it to Nintendo’s next console.
We’ve had a longstanding relationship with Nintendo and we’ve supported the platform when it made sense for the individual release. There was a time when Nintendo platforms were really geared at younger audiences and that was reflected in our release schedule.
Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two
Now with today Switch and potentially Switch 2, the Switch device can support any audience. As you may have noticed, Civilization 7 is now available on Switch. While we have nothing specific to report, we actually would fully expect to support Switch.
While Take-Two has supported Nintendo Switch with old ports of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy (which…wasn’t great), L.A. Noire, Borderlands, and BioShock, they didn’t release GTA V or even GTA IV, which was a bit of a shock.
What do you think: Is GTA VI incoming? Could it even run on the Switch 2?
Personally, I think it could run if dramatically scaled back in resolution and frame rate. Whether or not it will skip Nintendo’s console regardless is another discussion.
