A newly surfaced patent related to the Nintendo Switch 2 hints at an innovative design that could change how players interact with the console. The document describes a system where the device can be flipped upside down, effectively altering the placement of the headphone jack and USB-C ports (remember the system seems to have two USB-C ports, one at the top and bottom).
Unlike the current Switch, which has a fixed orientation and a single way to attach controllers, the successor console appears to introduce a magnetic attachment system for the Joy-Con. This would allow controllers to connect even when flipped, meaning players could attach them in unconventional positions.
Another notable feature mentioned in the patent is a display that can rotate 180 degrees. While the device reportedly includes just one headphone port, the system’s reversible nature would let users decide whether it appears at the top or bottom of the console. If the Joy-Con are attached in reverse, the screen automatically adjusts, repositioning key ports accordingly.

Per the patent:
The user can use the game system by mounting the right controller and the left controller on the opposite side to the main body device. According to this… the user can use the game system in such a manner that… the component becomes a favorable arrangement. For example, the user can use the game system so that the upper and lower sides of the main body device are opposite to each other, such that the voice input/output connector on the upper surface of the main body device is located below the main body device. That is, the user can insert the earphone into the voice input/output connector from the preferred direction.
